For my physical portfolio, I used a standard 8.5x11 portfolio case and scanned in all my media that wasn't digital. From there I organized it by media type and added a cover page. My website is set up in about the same way, except the media types are arranged by tabs instead.
the url to my site is steven-marcinkowski.squarespace.com
also my print on demand item was a hat that i designed, but the design got rejected and it won't be here in time.

I used a standard 3 ring binder for my portfolio. I found this to be the effective for the artwork I intend to use for my brand. I bought photo protectors to keep my images clean. I learned a lot this semester and will continue to grow as an artist.
My online portfolio is posted on my website at moonorbust.com. I found other portfolio pages to be confusing or too expensive and I figured it would make sense to show my art on my own website.
For my final print-on-demand project I created a hat with a an edit of my eagle design. I used the words "Ill Eagle Alliance", a play on the idea of Illegal Aliens.
The hat is sold online for extra credit:

Statement:
College is a time for
experimentation and getting to know yourself in unexpected ways. You meet new
friends, lose friends, find new subjects you’re interested in that high school
didn’t teach you, and realize how important sleep really is, even if you can’t
get enough of it. I’m constantly asked why I’m even going to college when I can
just self-teach myself the things I need to know. The reason is because I truly
believe that going through these classes with other artists and so many
influences around me can give me a quicker education and a more efficient
education than I could ever teach myself. These classes like color theory, and
two dimensional computer design force me to do things I would have never made
the decision to teach myself, but I’m happy that I learned what I did. They
challenged me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things, focus on
details, and see the world in a different way.
Through my last three years at MCC I’ve taken quite a few
art classes that have helped me grow as an artist and explore different mediums
that I enjoy. What you’ll find among these works are acrylic color theory based
paintings, some personal works, charcoal life drawings, and miscellaneous digital
works from our own two dimensional computer design course. There’s no specific theme to this portfolio as
this is just a collection of work gathered from my schooling. I’m hoping that
this portfolio will continue to grow with my time at ASU and with my own
personal projects.
So for my Print-On-Demand object the goal still is to do a onesie, however I'm dealing with some technical issues on Society6 because their system seems to be unable to process my image (even though it's exactly to their specifications- I'm bitter.) This is what will be printed on a blue onesie for my little cousin. I'm sorry I couldn't have it for you guys.
And Ladies and Gentlemen! HERE IT ISSSS~
If you all would love to take a look at the much prettier DIGITAL version I made, I'd appreciate it. <3
So because I don't have the onesie even available to me at all- I did put the print of that design on sale! :D Hopefully it'll still count for the extra credit? Maybe? I can hope.

1. I had a lot of fun with this final project, I never realized just how much art I had been making over the past couple years. It was nice to sit down and actually go through it to create a portfolio. For my physical portfolio I chose to use a simple 8.5 x 11 portfolio. This was nice because I had gotten it for a present so I didn't need to go out and by one. Also I like that it 8.5 x 11 so I can have it with me most of the time. I think in the future Id like to getter a bigger portfolio because some of my works I feel look better if printed bigger.
As for my print on demand object I went with society6.com. I used a tribute design I made for the wrestler the Warrior and had a rug made. I was actually quite happy and surprised with how it turned out. They quality is really nice considering I only paid 28 dollars for it. They also matched the colors pretty much spot on. Now my design was fairly simple so I do feel like if you had a super complex design it might get a little muddy looking on the fabric. But overall I was pleased with society six shipping was fast and the site is easy to use.
For my digital portfolio I went with squarespace. I had been wanting to make a portfolio online for a while now an I did a lot of looking around at my options. In the end though I really wanted to have my own domain name. So I got a year subscription to squarespace which got me my own domain name, blog, and store you can use through squarespace as well. It wasn't too expensive either less then 100 dollars for a year which is a good price. I figured this is what I want to do with my life so why not get the best quality site I can get. They have super easy templates to work with or you can do your own coding if you would like. Overall Im pleased with the website Ive made so far I think its a good step in the right direction.
Also over the past year I have had my own store where I sell shirts that I screen print and stickers I make. For that store I used a site called big cartel. They are a free site that hosts your store online for you. It is super simple to use just sign up pick a template and post your products. I have been able to make a little bit of side money from this which is nice. I also linked my store on my actual website as well. So hopefully that will get me some more traffic to my store.
Like I said I had a lot of fun with this last project. It felt really nice to see all the hard work that I have done over the past couple years come together. I think this class has really helped me a lot with not only just the technical skills but the design skills as well. I look forward to continuing learning and expanding my skill set as an artist and designer.

Final Portfolio Project
For my Print on demand design I started to go with a t-shirt design that I am doing for the clothing part of my business but at the last moment I decided to change my print on demand to cd insert covers. Since I wasn't able to get my print on demand until after next week and shipping and didn't want to be late I changed my item. I pretty much only took up graphic design at the time because I got tired of paying graphic designers in Michigan 500 bucks to design my logos, cd covers, clothing, etc .
I produce music and am planning on opening a recording studio early next year. But I also want to be able to design anything for person Musical artist or not. So I plan on doing design and illustration along with recording and producing music. I want my clients to be able to come to my studio, record their project whether its a live band or other and at the same time get their cd covers, websites layouts, posters, flyers, etc. The One Stop Recording Shop. For my digital portfolio I went with foliohd.com. My url to the site is envision-design.foliohd.com.
Final Project: Portfolio Critique
FINAL CRITIQUE
I found this class to be a great step in the right direction for me. I gained confidence in Illustrator and also more knowledge in the overall design process. For me it was fun and I wish I dedicated, or could have dedicated more time to certain projects.
For this final project I enjoyed creating the portfolio. I think it was a great way to end the semester. Even though I kind of stretched myself to have twenty pieces to fill the portfolio I did realize I need to apply myself a little more in order to really get the best work out and into the public. I have ideas, I just need the time to put them into play.
My layout is a basic template I created for the entire portfolio. I included my Illustrator work which includes design and illustration, plus my photography and photoshop projects from last year and this year.
For my final print on demand piece I went with a graphic I had worked on previously, but never really finished. This time around I started from scratch and really went into depth with the design piece. This class helped a lot with forming the final piece, I call, Two Worlds. I decided to have T-shirts printed. I did 25 women and 25 men t-shirts. The women's is done in gold foil, which turned out really nice and they sold FAST. I made some good money off of them actually, which was icing on the cake.
Overall, I'm happy with building a presence online and doing some face-to-face interaction in regards to my designs. People really liked the way the shirts came out and I'm hoping to continue to see more sales in the near future.

For my final print-on-demand project I decided to make a tote bag designed for my mother, in light of mother's day. My mother is a librarian and has a little chihuahua that is like her child, now that my brother and I are grown. (I attached a picture of her dog in the collection of photos above, just for reference.) I wanted the design to look like a hand done screen print, inked on, so I kept it mostly black & white utilizing the live trace and brush tools. I used cafepress.com and am pretty happy with the results!
For my printed portfolio I decided to give shutterfly.com a try, since they were running a sale on their book printing services. I am pretty happy with how that came out as well. For anyone interested in using that book printing service; it is interesting to note that (although they are only online) one of their printing locations is in Phoenix, so your product will arrive much earlier than what the site will quote you.
For my online portfolio I decided to go with portfoliobox.net. As I understand it, this is a free site hosting as long as you stay under 40 images. It is easy to use and has some very clean and customizable templates that you can change up at any time. The pricing is great too, if I decide to include more of my work later and want my own domain, which is optimized with yourname.com. Since I wanted to stick to my most recent pieces, and only digital, my portfolio includes mostly digital photos I took last semester (in ART 142 with Rosalind Shipley).

Building a portfolio for me is kind of a
waste of time and money because I can’t even imagine showing it to anyone. I enjoyed doing it and I am glad I learned
how but I will be working for myself and have a clientele of people I know and
word of mouth advertising. I don’t plan
on putting my name on anything I do; therefore people will have to ask the
people I do work for who did it for them.
I am too old to try to get a start up job with a company when there are
much younger more talented people all around me. I do what I do out of the love of doing it
and my desire to get better, I strive to be the best so I am determined to work
harder and longer than others on projects.
Reality is the profession of graphic design is for the younger more hip
person and those days for me are behind me.
I took several pieces that I did in this
class and in others and put them on cafepress.com (http://www.cafepress.com/Funnyshop6)
because of the timing, prices, and how long it would take to purchase a shirt
and ship it, I had one printed locally. I did a portfolio but cant remember the website I used (it sucks getting old)

For my project I wanted to do something fun that could be taken all around the world everywhere you go. Transferable art that be easily be placed and removed. My idea was stickers and cases! Along with these unique and fun designs also offer prints and other basic artistic views. Due to an issue with fraud on my bank account my account was closed out and I did not have time or a way to get my objects physically made and printed:( Bringing two different styles of art to the table it leaves many choices and range to a vast variety of people. The "Flash" section being my favorite, it brings fun and wild tattoo-like designs to the table is a variety of objects like my favorite and main part the stickers! Mom and dad don't want you getting ink huh? Well get some of my stickers to give the same essence without the pain! (Of your parents yelling at you, that is..) If stickers aren't really your thing, maybe you're "too cool" then grab yourself a nifty phone case. Either way you are going to be the new cool kid on the block, or maybe just the weirdo in the cubical next to Bob over there. Get Righteous!
Not being able to purchase my demands was really a bummer and brought down the presentation effect.. In place of it I will be showing some shirts I had made a little while back following another block of the "Righteous" family. It will at least give an idea of the different concepts and styles I would like to produce to keep things happenin' in all groups and styles. Also I got a pretty sweet portfolio for a good price that I sadly have no way of taking an image of at the moment, rough patch right now I guess you could call it. I will also display it in class for all to see with once again its own personal approach.

For now my physical portfolio is something small I can
travel with and soon I wish to split it into two separate portfolios. One for
graphic design, and one for illustration. They layout goes from best to average. I've
included photography work mostly as filler for now. I have both a face book
page witch I will post graphic design work and a digital copy of all my work on
flash drive.
As far as my work goes I like to go with darker subject
matter and tend to use black in most of my work. I hope to build up on my
skills to become a better illustrator and to promote my work towards a fanbased
consumer group rather than a single company. But since life involves paying
bills I’ve focused more on graphic design then illustration thus far. Over time
I hope to cross the two skill sets to gain more promising employment.

Daniel DiFondi - Final Critique
1. Statement:
On my deathbed I shall have few regrets. I am determined to accomplish my artistic dream. Now at age 55, my goal is to complete my Associates at Mesa Community College and to transfer to Arizona State University to achieve a Bachelors degree in the Digital Culture program on the Art & Design track at the Herberger Institute. I'll be near 60 when I graduate. Many criticize this endeavor, asking who will hire a graphic designer at that age. My response is simple; I am happy.
I have always loved the visual arts. As a child & in my teens, I worked in my Mom's ceramic studio, pouring molds & cleaning greenware. In exchange, Mom would let me"make" something. I liked to work with glazes, using different mixtures on one piece (against Mom's recommendation) to see what effects I could achieve - sometimes with unexpected results. (I know I ruined more than one shelf in the kiln - sorry Mom.) When I was 13 years old my grandmother gave me an old Polaroid camera. I figured out how to make very believable double exposures of one person into two and would show my pictures to friends and family claiming that these people had twins who had in some way disappeared. In High School, although I was a business major, I used all of my elective courses to take art classes. After that, I attended a local art school enrolling in the Fine-Arts Core Program. I never completed the program, instead later using the credits along with business courses I took to obtain an Associates degree in Individual Studies at a nearby community college. I spent the next 30 years working in the banking/brokerage industry. I'd like to say that I was completely miserable during that time but that would not be totally true. There were highs and lows with that career, as well as in my personal life, and I learned a lot about finance (and Wall Street). During that this period, I considered my art and photography as a hobby I could retreat to for comfort. I was even a docent for the firm's corporate art collection (which was one of the largest private collections in the Southeast) and volunteered for many corporate sponsored art events. In 2011 I came to a crossroads in my life. I relocated to Arizona to be nearer to my family. I was living with my brother in early 2012 when he suddenly and with out warning decided to take his own life. I spent weeks paralyzed and depressed by the guilt and trauma. I soon after accepted an entry level position at a call center in Tempe. It is at this point that I can honestly say I spent the next year and a half in misery; I felt like a robot adeptly performing my job functions. I was really quite good at the job, receiving awards, accolades, even overtures of possible advancement into management within the organization.
I hated every moment of it! Every empty promise, every lie that I saw through. One day, I awoke, mentally and spiritually. I packed-up my personal belongings, tendered my resignation to Human Resources and enrolled full-time at Mesa Community College to study Graphic Design. It was the best decision I ever made. Today I wake up each day eager to make art. While this decision has been a financial challenge (I am not wealthy-I have a modest retirement savings and depend upon government and private student loans to continue my studies), I am determined to accomplish my artistic dream.

1. For my physical Portfolio, I wanted to make it look like a magazine, because I wanted to create a unified design, which I could've used later in my resume as well, plus the portfolio layout could've been used as another example of my work.
I created an inDesign file 8.5" x 11", with appropriate trim, bleed and safe zone, which I found on the MagCloud website. After that, I build a document with unified design. I converted it in into PDF and uploaded to the MagCloud. Unfortunately printing of a magazine alone was going to take several days, and together with delivery, it wasn't going to come in time. That is why I went to the Lab in the art building and printed the portfolio on my own.
For my print-on-demand object, I decided to make a phone case. Unfortunately, I spent too much time working on my portfolio piece (actually, no. I'm glad I've put extra effort in the portfolio, I think it came out to be better than if I'd simply print out my work separately,) so I was able to order the case only by the end of previous week, so it didn't arrive in time. Still, I have all the prove that I ordered it.
