Final Projects:
For my final print-on-demand project I decided to make a tote bag designed for my mother, in light of mother's day. My mother is a librarian and has a little chihuahua that is like her child, now that my brother and I are grown. (I attached a picture of her dog in the collection of photos above, just for reference.) I wanted the design to look like a hand done screen print, inked on, so I kept it mostly black & white utilizing the live trace and brush tools. I used cafepress.com and am pretty happy with the results!
For my printed portfolio I decided to give shutterfly.com a try, since they were running a sale on their book printing services. I am pretty happy with how that came out as well. For anyone interested in using that book printing service; it is interesting to note that (although they are only online) one of their printing locations is in Phoenix, so your product will arrive much earlier than what the site will quote you.
For my online portfolio I decided to go with portfoliobox.net. As I understand it, this is a free site hosting as long as you stay under 40 images. It is easy to use and has some very clean and customizable templates that you can change up at any time. The pricing is great too, if I decide to include more of my work later and want my own domain, which is optimized with yourname.com. Since I wanted to stick to my most recent pieces, and only digital, my portfolio includes mostly digital photos I took last semester (in ART 142 with Rosalind Shipley).
