Project 1A - Letter Forms
For this project I expanded my font in order to create what I needed. I placed two (2) copies in place, used one layer as the white outline, one layer as the blue and the final layer (top) as an overlay plastic wrap layer. Top layer was reduced to 60%. I grouped, then moved and rotated each character individually. I created 'droplets' and applied the plastic wrap effect to them also. Over all I liked the image, however, I would of liked to create the plastic wrap effect without it giving me rough edges on my text. Sort of loses the slick effect I was going for.

I like what you did with this project. I think to add to the "slick effect" it would have been nice to rearrange the word on the art board, maybe pushed all the way to the right --or maybe add some water skidding underneath the lettering.
ReplyDeletethis is a very strong design. I like the combination of black and blue (honestly, you almost never can go wrong with black bg). Also I think that the middle is a good position for the word in this particular case; I could still work moved somewhere else in the picture frame, but it's not necessary. The only think I'd try, is to try replacing the font. I don't say that the one you used isn't working, but maybe there are some which would work even better.
ReplyDeleteI think the way you colored and placed the font conveys the message really well. The little water droplets are a great little detail. The message is very clear. (:
ReplyDeleteI think is pretty creative. The way you put some letters gives the word more power because the letters themselves look like they're slipping.
ReplyDeleteNice watery text! Maybe you would have even went further and through a floor sign in somewhere and used the word "slippery" as the puddle!
ReplyDeleteI like this design a lot its very fun to look at and it feels slippery just by the colors and the water droplets you added! I think one idea to try might be to maybe use less of the water droplets so it doesn't get to cluttered. nice job!
ReplyDeleteVery good translation of the project. I really love the radial gradient! However, and I commented about this to another student, black with one color seems like too safe of a choice. Overall though, great work.
ReplyDeleteI think if you were able to stretch out a few of the letters to make it look like someone had slipped on them, it would really add to the image.
ReplyDeleteGreat design but try out the mesh tool next time you want to add a glossy look to something, it will give you more control.
