Project1A Representational Words

This project was inspired by hunger. I chose three delicious breakfast foods and made a clipped art mask for each of them. By expanding the text I was then able to make the mask over the pictures and also able to transform them so that more surface area of the picture was included in the word itself.

I chose these words also for their varying words lengths to experiment with type size and clipping masks. I feel that these were successful in capturing the image despite the size. I particularly like how the coffee image came out because both his hands are included in the image and you can still tell what it is. The only thing I would change might be the background layer so it'd be darker and make the words pop a little more.

  1. This is making me hungry! I like this design I think it would be good if you could make the "Joe" just a little darker. The coffee mug kind of blends with the background.

  2. The font you picked works really really well with the images you used in the clipping masks- especially the bacon one. The coffee cup could have been better I think, maybe just a different image that would pop as much as the other two did would be nice. This totally makes me hungry!

  3. I like this! Mostly because I'm hungry right now. I like the order you put them in too.

  4. A funny idea. Even using the same font unifies the design. The composition would look better if you moves 'JOE' a little to the left. I understand that you most likely used the 'center' option for text, but there is such thing as visual alinement, which in many occasions is different with the alinement created by simply using the aliment options in software.

  7. nice job using the clipping mask on all three words! Maybe try using a stroke around some of the text to see how the looks might help the text pop out a little more. nice work !

  8. Good work on the masks, but maybe try to make the letters also represent the objects.
