For Project 1B I used two separate techniques to compose the word art. For the top i used several layers of both basic shapes and stokes and also expanded the strokes to apply separate effects. For the bottom image i created the background by using the shape tool and then combining the random shapes with pathfinder. The letters are freehand pen-tool with the shading applied with the mesh-tool.

  1. So the fonts themselves are really cool looking- however I don't think they really convey the 3 words you described as yourself (whatever they may be). That's all they really are to me is fonts. The colors are nice, the use of shapes for the background on the bottom one was pretty cool. I think a bit more planning on what you're trying to convey to your audience needs to be there for this to work.

  2. This is really cool. Looks like Tron. The second one is really cool too, I like what you did with the letters to make them look like some kind of scientific specimen.

  3. I like the font element here, I could see these on t-shirts even, but I don't see how they will fit the project in representing the three words and their opposite. I also think to add to the "opposite" effect the bottom image might have been better as yellow or red, since green is still very close to the color blue.

  4. Cory,

Overall the images are a great. I cannot seem to pull out the descriptive words you used though. I do see their opposites, that was done very well. One is crisp sharp lines and the other is very organic and free-flowing. Nice colors also.

  6. I like the font you designed on the top one. The black and blue give it an almost fluorescent quality. And the second one is kinda cool, I really enjoy the lighting or modeling effect here. I only have to comment on the limited palette. Black and one color is a "safe" choice. I've been there . . . maybe try to play more with color. All in all though, very nice on both names. :)

  7. The top one is nice very sleek and tron like. The bottom one looks nice too! For me it is a little hard to read though, I think maybe making your name a different shade of green would help it pop a little so it would be more easily seen but it would still blend wight the background. nice work!

  8. I really like the color scheme. The first variant is really good in my opinion. The second although is difficult to understand what it says. I would change the shape of the O a little and make either the background green darker, or the letters' green brighter, so it would be more distinguishable.
