Demographic Based Logos

  • TOP LEFT: MALE OVER 70 ( service for finding plot, gravestone, etc.)
  • TOP RIGHT: FEMALE 40-49 (perfume)
  • BOTTOM LEFT: MALE 25 AND YOUNGER (Beer)
  • BOTTOM RIGHT: TWEEN (accessories)

The fun part about all of these logos, is that I created them myself (excluding some of the font). The only tools I ended up using were the pen tool to create the images of the crown, antlers, the heart, gravestone, etc. I was able to use different fills, strokes, and shape to give them the flow that I wanted for each. The fonts I found entirely on dafont.com and downloaded them to my personal computer for use. I did edit the “Adorbs” one a bit just to give it a bit more thickness to the curves. The spacing between letters and the style of the text weren’t touched much. I had a vision in my head and I just searched for the text that would best meet my need. I think they all turned out pretty okay.
As far as concept goes: I’ll start with “In Loving Memory.” The idea came from my parents planning their wills, thinking about where they were going to be buried when they eventually pass, and all that. I thought that not everyone as are super prepared for these things as my parents and surely this kind of thing would fit into the “over 70” age group. I wanted to give the company a name that was nice while also getting to the point of “death.” In my research a clear, concise message with easy to read font is the key factors to advertising to this age group. They’re not into the flashy big colorful advertisements like the younger generations are and in sticking with that I ended up keeping it a simple black and white scheme.
With adorbs I wanted to keep it cute and fun while still making it stylish all at the same time. In the research that I did on the tween age group I read that they are very big into making their own decisions on their wardrobe and how they appear to their peers. This store was supposed to draw in the tweens while still having a girly vibe that would allow the parents to let the tweens shop there in the first place. The tweens might think their making their decisions but really it’s the parents that are spending the money- so appealing to both markets was important. I enjoyed using the symmetrical balance of the word to create a frame around the pink heart and the tagline fits just perfection at the bottom making it even more balanced on the vertical scale with color. The logo can also stand on its own without the tagline.
Sambar is one that I wish to continue working on. I realize that I could have gone a couple of steps further with this and making the proper edits that were mentioned in class. The inspiration came from the deer found on St Vincents island FL called Sambar and their unique antler shape- and the very cool handmade style of craft beer logos. I wanted it to have a nice color palette that would look nice on a light brown beer bottle while also conveying that earthy tone that goes with nature. Unfortunately I did not succeed in my goal of having the antlers being the main focal point, but that can be changed. Shape, pen, and the text tool were the only things used here.

And then there’s Reine- this one might actually be my favorite because of the simplicity of it. Not that it was simple to make, but how clean it looks as a finished product. The idea was to look very designer (Marc Jacobs, Chanel, etc.) with the very easy to read sans serif text and the icon below that could also stand on its own if need be. I went with the purple to show the essence of luxury or royalty, which is what I’ve learned through art history and color theory it was used to convey in classical works. With all this in mind I conducted a simple design that would look good on a perfume bottle or on packaging and advertising.

  2. The plan your own plot business choice is a bit dark, haha, but the logo it self is good. I think the crown in the Refine logo needs to be centered. Nice work otherwise!

  4. I especially enjoy the beer logo. I didn't know what is was until I read your descriptions but it really appealed to me, made me curious… Adorbs is too cute, love the font you obviously created here.

  5. I really like the beer logo! It's something you might find in the alcoholic drink section of a grocery store. You did a good job on all them

  6. The bottom two are my favorite. I could see the Sambar logo on a banner at a party on the beach. Good job using appropriate colors and fonts.

  7. Beer me! The SamBar logo is great. I like the colors and it would look real nice on a bottle. Great job. Makes me thirsty. The plot planning is needed, but I don't know if it needs to have an icon in it. Just plain text might do the trick.

  8. Thats a dark sense of humor you got there :) this work is well done and very clean. Only two things catch my eye. You got a stray line on your headstone and i think the crown should be bigger. But grat work on the logos and especially the tween slang you used.

  9. Amazing designs. I'm not sure if I should laugh at the first one or not, but the it is a little funny. I really like the fonts and color on the fourth logo. I think the second logo would look better if the crown was a little bigger.

  10. Awesome job one all four of the logos. I like the adorns one it has a very playful young feel to it which works really well. I also like the sambar one looks like a beer that I would want to try. I think maybe try to get the word sambar to fit into the banner a little better other then that looks awesome!

  11. Great job on the logos, maybe try to make the crown a little bit bigger so it doesn't get lost in the background.
