Using a visual pun for a word i decided to go with the word Laser. Including some of the many shape tools and effects usable throughout Illustrator and Photoshop I had quite fun creating this image. I started the image messing around with the shape tools and forming the space-like craft to the bottom right. Once I saw an image coming together in my head I went forward with the idea. I added the laser shots flowing out towards the left and gave them a colorful, laser-like gradient to help them pop. The entire image was then given a glow effect which i then applied to the font also. Finding that perfect font and angling the word slightly, it made it as if it was another beam being shot into the space.

I think this is so visually interesting and it really makes your eye move across the composition. I think the font totally works with the idea of what it is, and the color choices are great. The only thing I don't understand is the bottom hexagon shape that seems very randomly placed. It looks nice, but I don't understand the purpose in the comp and why it needs to be there or how it's helping the design. Very cool though!
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT! It reminds me of "Op Art". Very "Victor Vasarely". My only critique would be maybe try a broader palette, but, then again, the colors here are very appropriate to the concept. Good Job.
ReplyDeleteI had a border around it originally, then after transferring through programs and computers it got lost somewhere! Thank you though I usually try for the op art vision!
DeleteI really enjoy this! i find it visually stunning and a great design that could be used for a company or brand, Nice work
ReplyDeleteI like this. I wonder how placing the word more toward the center might look?
ReplyDeleteThe point of it was to have the word shooting off into the distance as if it were a beam of laser light.
DeleteNice strong use of outlines.
ReplyDeleteGood position balance, good color balance. I like the effect of looking simple and complicated at the same time. I wouldn't change anything, even not the weird shape in the corner. More time people spend looking and art or design, more successful it is. Sometimes it is good to have some element people would understand, it will make them look longest an ponder about what the designer wanted to express. Many people would come up with some stories or ideas and explain weird elements for themselves.
ReplyDeleteI dont think you needed the thing at the bottom at all but thats just me. Its your art and you can make it however YOU like. Good job.
