For the first category, (Girls, ages 9-13) I picked a frozen yogurt restaurant. I chose to name it Flavor Crater because it sounds fun and hints that they can create their own flavor. For women, ages 40-49, income of $100,000-$124,999, I picked a purse company and named it the Praise Purse Company because these older women are typically religious and obsessed with their possessions. For men, age: under 25, income of $25,000-$49,999, my product of choice was my clothing line, Moon Or Bust. I changed the logo by using actual images and flattening the colors to 16 shades of grey. Men, age: 70 plus, income of $50,000-$74,999 I chose a watch company called the Neighbor Goods Watch Company. I thought it would be creative to blend the idea of neighborhood watch with the accessory because older men often part-take in neighborhood watch. I used a western font because most older guys like old western movies.
The most difficult part of this assignment was determining what products the other demographics favor. After sketching several ideas I finally came up with effective and creative ideas. I used shape tools and Pen tool to edit a few images from google. I chose fonts that represented the general attitude of each demographic. I liked this project because I had leave my comfort zone to create logos that appeal to other crowds.

I really like the frozen yogurt logo & the "Moon or Bust" clothing line idea. I think you really hit the mark with those two. Both are well designed yet simple. They each convey a unique concept in a very concise way. I don't understand the purse company and the keyhole doesn't seem appropriate. If you're assuming that these women are religious think about this. Sunday morning, she's getting ready for services. What is she wearing? These ladies are dressed to kill! Tastefully, however; after all it is church. So which purse is she going to choose to complement her fabulous outfit? Not this tired old brown bag. I think something with a little more pizazz. You know, it's not a sin to be stylish. As far as the "Neighborhood Watch" I think this is a clever twist. However, be careful about making broad assumptions. I'm 55 and I detest old westerns.
ReplyDeleteOh that Watch logo is super cleaver! I enjoy it quite a bit. the best of the 4 i do have to say is your "Moon or Bust" logo, you can tell the amount of time and care you put in to it.
ReplyDeleteClever ideas and overall i really liked the moon clothing logo. You need to practice using strokes to ad contrasted to you line work as well as negative space. You need to ask yourself would this logo still work as a simple Black and white 2d sticker.
ReplyDeleteI like all of the designs. The second one would benefit if you would leave some space between the letters and the stroke of the graphic.
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the Moon or Bust logo. Obviously your brand. I like it. I like the story you shared behind it during the last critique also. Would like nice a white T or reversed on a black T. My least fav is the Praise Purse logo. The idea and image is great but I think it needs to be more crisp. The outline of black around it kind of takes away the high-end value. Maybe a gradient to make the gold pop and a more cursive font. All the ideas are great though.
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas. I liked Moon or Bust the most. The design is really cool.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea behind the purse company. Maybe try to add a strap across the top to give it more of a purse look.
ReplyDeleteThese all came out nice I could for sure tell to who they are marketed for. My favorite has to be the watch co. with the use of the neighborhood watch guy awesome idea! The flavor crater one is awesome too could totally see that as an actual frozen yogurt shop and the logo looks young and playful.
ReplyDeleteNice work. My only suggestion would be to move the text for the watch company so that it doesn't overlap the rest of the graphic.
ReplyDeleteFlavor Crater is my fav and should definitely be an Ice cream store nearby.
